PIGMENT, located 5 minutes walk from Tennoz Isle station, is specialized for the exhibitions and sales of rare Japanese traditional art and craft supplies. The shop was opened as an art supply laboratory and plentiful art and craft supplies from Eastern art are displayed. One of those walls is covered with nearly 4200 colors of pigment on display. The items they deal with include basic art and craft supplies, ink stones, writing brushes, paint brushes etc. Not only they deal with some top quality products which are used by some dedicated hand craftsmen, but also they have some experts stationed at all time to give some advice for the characteristics and the usage of those products. The shop was designed by Kengo Kuma with the image of Bamboo. The aim of PIGMENT is to introduce the manufactures of those top quality materials to the artists, and train and support the development of Japanese young artists; therefore they run a workshop called ` T-Art Academy`. The wide range of lecturers includes current artists, art university professors, art and craft manufacturers, and the workshop provides the opportunities to exchange information for various range of people, like someone who creates art as a hobby, professional artists or art researchers.
