Asakura Carvings Hall (朝倉彫塑館)

Another art gallery, the Asakura Carvings Hall resides in the studio/accommodations of the famous Meiji period carver Fumio Asakura (朝倉文夫). The hall consists of a tower studio of western architecture and a living area of Japanese architecture.

Major characteristics of the hall are the garden lake outside and the rooftop garden. The lake is supplied by well water, and every year white flowers bloom on the trees. Modelling after the five cardinal Confucian virtues (justice, politeness, wisdom, fidelity, benevolence), there are five large stones lining the garden, making for a unique landscape.
