Shimonoseki Strait Marathon

A prominent seaside course which commands a view of the Inland Sea and the Sea of Japan, this marathon allows for a good view of the sea while being refreshed by sea breezes. Since the competition in 2009, the marathon course has been widened to relieve congestion, ensuring a safe run.

If you are thinking of Shimonoseki, blowfish cuisine first comes to mind, right? On the day of the marathon, participants have the chance to have some of Shimonoseki`s famous blowfish hotpot and marine cuisine. Additionally, the Shimonoseki Aquarium Kaikyokan boasts the world`s largest penguin area, where tourists can touch the animals and take pictures with them.
