Nagano

Nagano, which is often called by its old name "Shinshu", is surrounded with mountains. Since there are many rivers and are rich in water resources and is producing sake. The national treasure Matsumoto-jo is the oldest castle in Japan. It preserves the castle tower as it was in Sengoku period. The Hakkaku sanjunoto (octagonal three-storied pagoda) of Anraku-ji was also registered as the national treasure along with the Matsumoto-jo. "Shinshu soba" can be named as local food.
